Contrary to received notions, the crisis today rocking Ivory Coast is not merely a domestic one. It is rooted in the history of West Africa and determines the stakes for the future, notably the exploitation of the resources that are at the cause of this regional war: oil, cacao, coffee, gold, diamonds. Shot in Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali and France, the film records the different witnesses and players in the crisis: the man in the street, media analysts, historians, businessmen, rebels, students and members of the African Union, each casting a particular light on what is at stake in West Africa today, both in the regional context and in the sphere of international relations.
