El descubrimiento del Oriente a través de la historia de los cafés. Diferentes especialistas : un escritor, un crítico de arte, un cineasta, un sociólogo, cuentan la historia de los cafés de Oriente, ilustrada por extractos de películas orientales.




Cafés in the arab world are places full od stories ans memory that in the course of time have welcomed intellectuals and a multitude of people who spend their days there, smoking the traditional water pipe. Using aye witness accounts, memories and fragments from Egyptian films, the video offers a journey to discover the fascination of these places linked to Arabic culture, from Orient to Paris, to document their changes and the most curious aspects in the era of Internet and mobile phones.

This film is both a sociological and historical piece, and a trip through the Orient; shot in Tunis (Tunisia), Cairo (Egypt), Damascus (Syria) and Istanbul (Turquey).
It is composed of many film archives, excerpts from Egyptian feature films, along with interviews with key figures such as :

* Egyptian writer Gamal El Ghitany,

* French writer Daniel Rondeau,

* Egyptian film director Tawfik Saleh.

DVD available, in english version or in arabic version.
