Sam is a gambler who spends most of his evenings at his buddy Popeye's unlawful gaming house. Despite his wife's objections to his late night lifestyle, he puts up a large amount of cash on a horse… and wins. Cash in hand, he realizes that the time is right to fulfil his dream of opening a drive-in movie theatre in Africa, a schema hatched during his time in the navy. When a high roller stops in at his regular game, Sam thinks his luck is made.
