Eleven-year-old Ali lives in a little village in Burkina Faso. The hare, the hyena and the imp (little masked characters) live in the magical world that Ali's grandmother invents for him. To reward him for his good school results, Ali's father sends him on a trip to the big city. What he finds there frightens him, and he is glad to return to the village and his grandmother's stories.
