Lilia, a widow, rediscovers her sexuality by chance through part-time work as a seamstress for a group of nightclub dancers. Enchanted by the exotic nocturnal world of belly dancing and pleasure-seekers, she strikes up a relationship with one of the musicians.
She later discovers that he is also dating her teenage daughter, jeopardising relations with both. Filmed with great sensuality, this film is a sumptuous celebration of the female form as Lilia transforms from a frumpy, withdrawn mother to a flamboyant, confident sexual goddess.
