The Public Affairs Section (PAS) in the United States Embassy in Maputo is pleased to announce that it has limited funds available to support short

-term, low-cost (not to exceed $5000 USD) projects by local partners in areas

benefitting Mozambicans. Projects should fall into one of six

priority areas:

(1)education,(2) governance & civil discourse,(3) women's empowerment

, (4) peace and reconciliation, (5) performing and cultural

arts, and/or (6) youth empowerment. PAS is currently seeking proposals

until May 30, 2014 for short duration projects that range

from 1 to 12 months. Interested parties must

submit a typed proposal and itemized budget accompanied by a

one - page summary of the project that includes the following information:

1.Name of the project and organization/group/individual;

2.Geographic location;

3.Priority project area;

4.Key objective(s);

5.Target group(s);

6.Expected results of the project;

7.Amount of funding requested; and

8.Name and contact information of project coordinator.

Proposals may be submitted in either English or Portuguese

by email at PASMaputoProposals@state.gov or by hand delivery

to Av. Mao Tsé Tung, 542, Maputo. If submitting by email, please include "Request for Proposals" in the subject line. Only selected applicants will be contacted regarding

their proposals.
